Licking time

A photographic work based on

the myth that horses who pick

up the stable vice cribbing

should be put down or other

horses might get the idea too.

Stereotypies like cribbing are

rarely seen in animals in the wild

and have therefore become

talking point for arguing against

animal confinement. Mineral

stones are one of the ways

thought to reduce the likelihood

of the development of

stereotypies although all love

and care provided within

captivity is not a

guarantee. A big homemade

mineral stone was given to the

horse in the picture, signifying

this dynamic of contradicting

actions and feelings when it

comes to some of the

environmental problems we

face.
